History & Governance

Founded by Mr Bill Smith, LA Crushers (Pty) Ltd (LAC) was established in 1989 and by 2001 had evolved into a fully empowered entity.  The company has firm roots in the Ba-Phalaborwa community and has steadily increased its Black ownership from 51% in 2001 to 87% in 2017; along the way gathering influential and experienced Directors whose knowledge and networks have provided an invaluable wealth of strategic expertise.  Further, over the years the IDC, the NEF and the PIC have all supported BBBEE transactions and provided support and business expertise through mentoring and secondment of skilled individuals to the Board of LAC.

The current directorship of the company is made up of Mr Boas Seruwe (non-Executive Chairman) and non-Executive Directors Mr Harry Nkoana, Mr Mpumelo Maseko, Mr Tshepo Rapudi and Mr Bill Smith. Between them this dynamic team have vast experience in construction, mining, finance and corporate business.  All are professional, committed and involved.

LAC is a proud Level 2 contributor to BBBEE.  The company employs over 436 people and invests in personnel development to the benefit of the business, community and customers alike. With strong corporate governance and a highly skilled and capable management team, LAC intends to continue to entrench its position as a preferred load & haul and materials handling service provider.
