Foskor Raw & Potable Water Relocation Project (Client: Palabora Mining Company).
This project entailed the construction of two raw water reservoirs, each with a capacity of 23.5 mega litres, and two potable water reservoirs, each with a 2.5 mega litre capacity.
The platform was constructed with rockfill, dynamically compacted and cement stabilized. The dam walls involved some 50,000 cubes of earthworks. 275 metres of stormwater V drains were laid. LAC provided all the concrete for the Hyson Cells; and mechanical installations, pipelines and inlet and outlet towers were constructed. The project also involved re-routing tarmac roads.
Machinery utilized included Cat 773D haul trucks, Bell B40s and a range of dozers, graders and excavators.
